Christian Spirituality and a Shared Work

What is the source of our reason? And what is its purpose? We humans have not created the world that we live in. But the evidence that we are here, attests to the existence of someone far greater than ourselves who did: a Creator. However, our Creator is invisible to us. What we can see is beauty, and intelligent ordering of the matter which forms our world (where humans have not interfered and destroyed what is innately beautiful, that is). We can only appreciate this beauty, and explore Creation's patterning, through using the intelligence that is part of our consciousness. A consciousness which we can develop or destroy, or immitate, but not ourselves create. We can also see evidence of life which exists in 'family' relationships. We can communicate with other living beings through use of our intelligence which is rooted in 'language'; words.

Christians recognise Scripture as a written record of an evolving relationship between human beings, and the Creator (whom our language rather clumsily calls "God"). Development of this relationship has been typified by a growing consciousness of the quality called "Love". Scripture contains tragic histories, committed into writing so that other people and future generations may learn from past mistakes, and the wisdom of accummulated hindsight. Humans have persisted in acting without 'Love'. But, who can explain 'Love'? Yet, "Love" can explain all things. "Love" is a mystery, to be learned about. Christians have come to accept that our Creator (who is identified as "Supreme Love") considered it necessary to take the form of a human being in order to explain himself to his creatures. He did this to save His world and humanity from our ignorance of His "Love". His is a father's love for his children, and he became a human (a brother) to teach humans how to be His children, and to recognise brotherliness in our relationship with all Creation.

Love is reasonable and reliable. But humans have imperfect knowledge not only of God, but also of one another and the world in which we live. Love (the Originator of all things) can, therefore, defy human reason, and be very unsettling to encounter. Strange things do happen, and God is able to communicate with His creatures in ways that Science has not yet been able to measure. Needless to say, many good scientists pray. The more we love, the more we learn, and the created order proves itself capable of previously unimaginable transformation.

This website exists because Christianity is not a stranger to the Dietary Ethics debate. It is hard to draw a line betwen Vegan practice and Christian Faith. Although, a rupture can be seen between the beliefs of many Vegans and the practice of many Christians. This is a website for Vegan Christians. A place where Christian reasoning may be promoted in favour of a diet and culture which is kind to humans, animals and the environment. Such, we believe, is recognition of God. Such, we believe, was the example given to us by Jesus. It is right to be Vegan, and Jesus (who has made us His Church) is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
